REGIONAL
To provide courses for association and club officials in Kumite and Kata with the opportunity of attaining National Qualifications, courses to be open to coaches, students, parents and table officials, course fees will apply. Courses will be open to 16 years and above and structured to encourage equal opportunities. - Table official

min age 16 years and min grade 1st Dan - Regional Referee
min age 18 years and min grade 1st Dan The above applies for EKF licence holders who do not have association qualifications
NATIONAL
KUMITE JUDGE - Minimum Age 18 years & Minimum Grade 1st Dan KUMITE REFEREE - Minimum Age 21 years & Minimum Grade 1st Dan KATA JUDGE - Minimum Age 21 years & Minimum Grade 2nd Dan
All candidates must have Association Referee status prior to attempting National Qualifications.
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA
KUMITE
JUDGE 'B' Candidates must attend one Referee course then upon attendance at a second Referee course within the same year, the Judges Qualification theory examination can be taken. A pass mark of 80% must be achieved before moving on to the next stage which will be a practical assessment at a National or Regional Championships.
JUDGE 'A' A minimum of two competitions at a National or Regional level and a Referee course must be attended before this Qualification can be taken. Upon attendance at a second Referee course, a pass mark of 80% must be achieved before moving on to the next stage which will be a practical assessment at a National or Regional Championships.
REFEREE 'B' A minimum of two competitions at a National or Regional level and a Referee course must be attended before this Qualification can be taken. Upon attendance at a second Referee course, a pass mark of 90% must be achieved before moving on to the next stage which will be a practical assessment at a National or Regional Championships.
REFEREE 'A' A minimum of two competitions at a National or Regional level and a Referee course must be attended before this Qualification can be taken. Upon attendance at a second Referee course, a pass mark of 90% must be achieved on the Referee theory examination before moving on to the next stage which will be a practical assessment at a National or Regional Championships.
Once qualified, to keep your National Qualification, the theory examination needs to be re-taken every 2 years and all Referees must attend a minimum of 2 Referee Courses and 2 competitions at E.K.F. National and Regional level. An appropriate charge will be made for re-sitting examinations.
REFEREE 'A*', ASSISTANT TATAMI CHIEF, TATAMI CHIEF, EUROPEAN & WORLD OFFICIALS A minimum of two Referee courses must be attended each year, one of which must be an elite course and the theory examination must be re-taken every two years (No Charge). European & World Officials do not need to re-take the theory examination.
KATA
JUDGE 'B' Candidates must attend one Kata Judges course and then upon attendance at a second course within the same year, the Kata Judge Qualification examination can be taken. A minimum pass mark of 80% must be achieved on the theory examination to move on to the next stage which be a practical assessment of Shitei Kata and judging performance at a National or Regional Championships.
JUDGE 'A' A minimum of two competitions at a National or Regional level and a Kata Judges course must be attended. Upon attendance at a second course within the same year, a minimum pass mark of 90% must be achieved on the theory examination to move on to the next stage which be a practical assessment of Shitei Kata and judging performance at a National or Regional Championships.
All Kata candidates must perform 2 Shitei Kata. One from their own style and one from the other three styles. Questions must also be answered regarding the Kata bunkai.
Once qualified, all Kata Judges must attend a minimum of one Kata Judges course and two competitions per year. The theory examination must be re-taken every two years. An appropriate charge will be made for re-sitting examinations.
NOTE FOR ALL KATA & KUMITE OFFICIALS
To be selected to attend a European or World Event, Referees will also be required to attend one of the B.K.F. Championships. No Referee will be permitted to attend any European or World event without prior authorisation from the E.K.F.Chief Referee. Once a qualification has been achieved at European Level, Referees will be permitted to take the same level at World level.

This format is based on the system used in England.
